Why Venue?

Tables are universally practical and support activity. Whether used for work, recreation or entertainment, tables define the purpose of a space.

Knowing that the design of most things is influenced by functional norms and manufacturing convention, as designers it is important to us that the products we design and make are original and authentic.  However, we know from experience that although the design of a product is important, it is how people use a product that matters most. With this in mind, the design is deliberately simple, and considers the typical locations and settings where it will be useful. The inherent adaptability of the design meant that a range of heights and sizes could be developed to suit different settings. As a result, there are four heights of table, starting with 40cm high for occasional tables, 72cm for cafe tables, 74cm for seated tables and 105cm for standing tables. The frame design has developed into a useful family of sizes that suit many domestic and commercial settings.

Having completed the technical design, presenting the product in a distinctive way that conveys our core aims is just as important as making a good reliable product. In choosing a name, it was important to express the real focus is about the user and supporting a range of activities in different places. Thinking more about activity and place, led to ‘VENUE’ - as ‘a place where things happen’.

The name was settled and Venue Tables is now a registered trade mark. In time, it is hoped that it will become associated with well designed, useful products that are valued and will last a long time. The central design idea is unique and efficient in terms of design, manufacture and application. It has allowed a broad family of tables to be developed with a consistent, honest style for use anywhere.
