About

  • The Idea

Tables are really good at defining space and enabling all kinds of activities to occur. Venues are places where things happen, and Venue Tables are designed to be practical and deliberately simple so that they will last.

Using a ‘universal’ component that is interchangeable, square and rectangular frames can be easily constructed from very few parts. This means that Venue is:

    • Adaptable, reconfigured from a small inventory of components

    • Suitable for a wide range of settings and applications

    • Efficient in the use of material and processes

    • Structurally robust and aesthetically minimal

The efficient design means that the entire range of 74cm high tables is made from just three frame components, which can be assembled in different combinations. Add tops of different size, shape and finish, and the potential options are considerable.

The unique frame design will not only appeal to those interested in the efficient engineering, but also those who manage a facility. This is because Venue Tables provide a simple adaptable platform that can respond to change.

Venue Tables are designed to suit many settings from lounge to office, café to conference room. Using three sizes of tube, the frame design has been developed to create a comprehensive range of tables. Starting with 40cm high occasional tables through to seated tables at 72cm and 74cm, and then at 105cm for standing use.

The design is subject to Patent Application number: 2104184.3.

  • The Designers

As designers, Broome Jenkins are interested in how people use different environments, and how to make different spaces function.

Their clients range from Manufacturers to City Councils. They are focussed on developing products that are useful, responsible and valued. They believe that genuinely good design survives because it addresses essential needs, efficiently and responsibly.

Having worked on many furniture systems over the years with leading furniture manufacturers, they know that complex assemblies and large component inventories are of little value to the user and are no longer economically or environmentally justifiable.

So, Venue Tables developed from a long-held obsession with designing furniture and a desire to keep it simple. Using their knowledge of manufacturing and their drive for efficient, rational design, Venue Tables shows how small, subtle changes can create significant benefits.
